Cyclo Garminada

June 19th from 9:15am – 8pm

Here’s an event in the Carson Valley. These guys recently attended a Scallycat race in Reno, and were inspired to put on their own event, the Cyclo Garminada. One of the promoters of this event, Anton Anger, had this to say, “Our goal is to have between 25 and 50 teams of two. The event will be a thursday, June 19th (weird day I know) from 9:15am – 8pm and open to all ages. The basic gist of the event is to score as many points as possible by completing tasks listed in a booklet assigned to every team within the alloted time. “Cyclo Garminada” as we have dubbed it, will be hosted by 88 cups in Minden and will include a BBQ after the event. The price for registration will be 20$ a team (pre registered teams only have to pay 18$).

Slow Rollers Show and Shine / Poker Run

The Slow Rollers are putting on their annual Show and Shine / Poker Run up at South Shore again this year. The Angora Fire added some excitement to the event last year! The Poker Run is a very fun event that you must attend, and is open to all riders and bikes. The Show and Shine allows all the people from the area to show off their custom cruiser creations. There are always a lot of interesting bikes to check out. Here’s the scoop from the slow Roller’s WEBSITE:

Where: South Lake Tahoe, CA

“Saturday, June 21 at 1pm, is the Show ‘n Shine at the MontBleu Casino. Come show off your chrome and spokes. Sunday, June 22 at 1pm, is the famous Poker Run. Tour de Fat

Details are slow to emerge on New Belgium Brewing’s website, but it looks like this year’s Tour de Fat is once again coming to Truckee, CA on July 26th. I thought it’d be fun to camp up there this year. Who’s in?

  1. We should go do the Flume but make it a ride all the way home. Shuttle up to Spooner, ride the flume then to the top and down into Carson hitting the creek when we get back. We could really get crazy and start at the college with the bumpy Kings Canyon road ride up to Spooner.

Ouch…it hurts to even think about it as that ride is the one that put me in for knee surgery last year.

  2. If we ended in Carson, we’d have to start in Carson. I’ve always wanted to do that!

We also need to get an out-and-back ride setup from Spooner though to accommodate everyone. I plan to take my son on the tandem, and COULD NOT do the loop from Carson.

  3. Doing that loop on a tandem would truly be Armstrong-esq….ooops almost forgot Lance DNF’ed his attempt at Mountain biking recently.

Both options sound good to me.

The loop could mean breakfast and a late lunch both at the Firkin to really make a day of it.

  4. Oh come on, Nico! If I can take the tandem up there, you can get yourself up there. Having said that, I haven’t actually made it yet with the tandem, but still… I plan on doing some walking in North Canyon!

  5. “A Glimpse of Heaven and a Taste of Hell” director Tyler Bourns is a Carson High graduate. I believe class of 2007.
