What a great turnout for the weekend events! Each event brings new faces, and this is good to see.
The weekend started off with Friday night’s full moon ride. We rode up the canyon until nightfall. Right before descending the Creek Trail, we switched on our lights. Soon after, it was completely dark, and the moon started rising over the mountains to the east.
The ride was not without a few bumps and bruises! A few riders went down in the dark, unfamiliar terrain. Everyone was able to ride out on their own though…nothing too serious. I’m pretty sure we picked up a few new fans of night riding.
I think the fastest “rider” of the night was Mike’s dog! Jeff Potter scolded her for cutting a switchback though.
Saturday’s movie night at Bike Habitat was a lot of fun. Denis had a lot of short movies to start, and then finished with the movie “24 Solo”, a movie about 24 hour solo endurance racing. A highly recommended movie! Plenty of drinks, pizza, and other snacks were enjoyed by all.
My son and I pre-rode the Mexican Ditch trail on Saturday. It was fantastic, and I couldn’t wait for the Kid’s Ride on Sunday. When we got to the Riverview Park trailhead on Sunday morning, there were lots of kids wide awake and ready to ride. The kids were fired up, and I think my son rode twice as fast (if not more) than he did on Saturday’s pre-ride. The kids were definitely the leaders, and we parents had to chase them most of the ride.

If you’re looking for another family oriented ride, don’t forget this Wednesday’s west side cruiser ride. Sign-ups are 6:00 PM in the Brewery Arts Center parking lot, ride at 6:30 PM. The ride is a slow and easy 4 to 5 mile tour of Carson’s historic west side. Hope to see you there!
You realize all of this is just going to make it harder for me to leave in June! I would suggest you start cleaning out the garage!!
Looks like a great weekend and a great start to your Bike to Work Week. Only wish I could be there to enjoy it.
Is there a scheduled Hydration stop for after the West Side Cruiser Ride?
I second the vote for weekly “Goat Gatherings” and “Night Ride”.
I have yet to see Centennial at Night.
Pics look awfully close to my parents house!!
Sure was. I could still see that guy working on their roof!
